Meijō-nomi

Meijō spigot

A kind of metal nomi spigot for use with metal tanks, invented and patented by Meijosha Company, Ltd. Mostly made from gunmetal, an alloy of tin and copper, but recently stainless steel models are also on sale. The device with a handle to allow the inner stopper to be removed to permit the flow of sake is called the hon-ki (本器, “main appliance”). Special attachments like the nomi-kiri attachment and the “parent-and-child” device are convenient when taking small samples.

Various kinds of couplings are available, including those for sanitary piping, hose accessories and cam locks.
